Jan 22, 2007 — As much as we’d like, we can’t get to every conference, training course and expo. This Winter & Spring, for instance, there are IR/Info2007, Thermal Solutions 2007, The Measurement Science Conference and ThermoSense XXIX; all of which I’d like to visit.

I had a presentation last week at the IR/Info meeting in Orlando, so I made that meeting and continued to learn new things about Infrared Thermography Apps. This week I am missing two of the four meetings, partly because they are being held simultaneously of opposite sides of the USA.

For my part, I am working on a review of IR/Info 2007 and planning some more, in-depth feature stories for our sites on things I learned there. Either of the other meetings would be overload for me right now, having six websites under close management, too.

As it was, I just reviewed my submissions to my January Sensors Industrial Automation Newsletter and am working to complete a book review for SPIE

We would certainly like some feedback on the two meetings this week.

Feel free to submit a review or even short comments on a particular part of a program.

Jan 4, 2007 — While working on posts of news stories from Business Wire, we were on the Website for the 2007 Consumer Electronics Showcase in Las Vegas, it starts over this coming weekend and runs through most of next week. Since we are technically ‘Members of The Press’, we registered to view the Exhibitors’ pre-show news release. There are tons, but only a few apply to our interest areas-but they are newsworthy stories, from our prespective.

Anyhow, long story short, we discovered the Virtal Press Office (VPO) website .

In addition to a treasure trunkfull of news stories, the best find, was the online calendar of meetings and links to them published by VPO. There’s a link already up on MeasurementMedia.com in the left colum block of our pages-it may stay a permanent feature there for the foreseeable future-we hope.

Neat Stuff!

Nov 29, 2006 — When we began our new sites this September, we didn’t expect them to grow in popularity and traffic like they have.

Thanks to all those who visit and help us grow in traffic volume.
That means a lot; that we are filling a need. It means we are doing something right, too, to attract so many new visitors.

To our surprise, Measurementmedia.com has grown the most quickly. It is nearly at the traffic rating that it took TempSensor.net almost two years to reach. Measurement Databases (MeasurementDB.com) is growing at about half that rate, but still much faster than expected.

We are still working on programming to get MeasureNEWS.com up to snuff. That’s a little more time-consuming than we had figured and it is effectively non-functioning.

The consolation is that TempSensor.net is now one of the leading Web sources for Temperature Sensor News and is quoted regularly in Google Alerts for temperature sensors as well as making it to the first page of Google searches for “temperature sensors” and related search terms.

MeasurementDevices.com continues to grow rapidly and get referred to in various alerts, too. It looks like the removal of irksome ads have helped greatly.

Thanks again for visiting and your help.

Don’t be shy, submissions and comments are gratefully and thoughtfully accepted.

If you haven’t looked, check out the new links to several resources in the AstroPhysics, Crystals and Geology areas.

You would be surprised how much these diverse fields have in common, especially on the Web!

There’s more FREE database resources on the Web than we imagined at first.

If you know of some we haven’t added to our directories, let us know, please. It’s FREE and you will get the credit, even anonymously by virtue of the non de guerre feature of our registartion process.

Yes, we know it’s a pain in the neck to take time to register, but it is about the only way we have found to keep content spam to a minimum. The beauty lies in our privacy policy at MeasurementDB.com and our related measurement websites.

Search our links with the built-in search engine and you will find a rapidly growing resource for students, engineers and scientists!

Thanks for stopping in.

Nov 2, 2006 — WOW! There are so many!

We are trying to catalog as many new ones as we can locate to expand our coverage and present listings. If you visit our site dedicated to measurement databases you’ll note that we are making headway.

They tend to come in big lumps as we dig into various disciplines we find more than one. Note our recent forays into geological and calibration resource areas.

If we haven’t gotten to your favorite databases yet, feel free to sugguest them either here or to submit them at the website. We welcome submissions and screen them for content span.

You’ll be helping speed along our work and aiding your fellow info seekers. It helps us because it’s one we don’t have to locate and enter. It helps others because it both helps fund our websites (with more links and visitors and higher SE ratings) and provides a user-reviewed favorite. What could be better than a win-win like that!

There is a third win, too. You help to continue the example of sharing on the Web and inspire others.

Nov 17, 2006 — One of our consultants looked over several of our new sites and told us two significant things.

1. Yuckk!-too many affiliate ads and the distractions they bring in your info & navigation areas.

2. Use Google or similar context-sensitive text ads instead, especially if they help the visitor see more options in their searches for useful products and other information.

As of today we have eliminated most affiliate ads, both graphic and text and kept only Google ads and the graphic link to GlobalSpec’s Search engines. Some of the useful ones, like those for Amazon books and handbooks, IR thermometers, Thermocouples and the like may be found on seperate, ad-specific pages, within each site. These vary by site and change over time.
Hope this change makes your visits more productive.

Of course we shall continue our ads in the top of page banner rotators. They are some of the most popular, mostly graphic links, to our individual organization sponsors.
